Ho Chi Minh trail

As the U.S fleet was impossible to supply by sea, North Vietnam decided to strengthen, broaden and widely use a route which opened in 1959. This route was named after the first president of modern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh trail and was far from a road.It ran through Laos and Cambodia and was mostly a collection of trails and paths used to Ho Chi Minh trailtransport all kinds of supplies and soldiers. Although their importance has been overrated, this route was a key victory in the North over the South. Especially because it could never be cut or stopped.

They used all kinds of techniques from massive bombing to the laying of intelligent sensors that detect people walking or even sweating. However the action of animals, jungle, countless roads and perseverance of the Vietnamese all proved futile.

Thus a Vietnamese man recounted in his diary his exhaustion and pain that was caused to his back carrying the load, but also the desire to move forward and not be left behind by his companions, despite all the hardships.

Over time the route was littered with areas to rest and recover, in addition to growing food to relieve pressure on the goods carried. These sites were the targets of bombings, attacks by mercenaries hired by the CIA and even forays into Cambodia and Laos.

But as in the case of the bombing, returned to be useless and the Ho Chi Minh was one of the keys for launching the Tet Offensive, after the Easter Offensive, and finally the Spring Offensive, which ended with Vietnam South.
