Vietnam war 1965, guns but no food

Like much of the U.S population and part of the Vietnamese population in 1965 most of the media favored the intervention. It was only later that the attitude of journalists began to change. On the occasion of the massacres they were able to show the peace movement because he spoke with knowledge, changing attitudes of politicians, as McNamara himself, and the horror of guerrilla warfare whilst reversing the attitude of journalists toward the Vietnam conflict and lack of popular support.

This was one of the causes of defeat. Other authors, most notably the Army of the United States, prefer to specify that the restrictions were imposed by politicians to the military as a result of media pressure.

The U.S wanted to make clear that Southeast Asia had come to stay and secondly, it Vietnam war 1965, guns but no foodwanted to deploy their enormous firepower to annihilate the enemy in no time. The first goal of sending more troops did not end for several years and in late 1965 there were more than 100,000 troops in Vietnam.

In the budget the first year of conflict has the U.S allocated 1,000 million dollars in aid, through this economic flood supplies amounted to almost 10 million tonnes per month. The United States had always been proud of their soldiers being well supplied with clean uniforms etc. The military went further to ensure at least one hot meal a day for every man, carried in tubs aluminum helicopter, although sometimes the variety created something of disorganization and errors in the rotation of the vast resources available.

A veteran complained that they received new uniforms, biscuits and other items, but not a single decent meal. They passed medicines, food and even water in magnificent tunnel systems, so much so that Americans set up a system based on the Cu Chi tunnels, never realizing what was beneath them, the Vietnamese were primarily stealing food.

This huge amount of materials and supplies required an enormous logistical chain that long dogged the Army and turned him into a slow and awkward elephant, as were the Communists. Just one in seven American soldiers was actually involved in combat, other bodies belonged to logistical, administrative, medical and mechanical sectors.

To accomplish the second goal, the display of firepower, helicopters, trucks and guns of different calibers were used wherever necessary to provide cover for ground troops. With all this power in their hands they organized several major operations, the first and most importantly the so-called Operation Starlight, against the Vietcong, and the bloodiest, the Ia Drang Valley against the EVN.
